Kabul University of Medical Sciences in Exile (KUMS in Exile)
Kabul University of Medical Sciences in Exile (KUMS in Exile) is an initiative by Jallah Academy, spearheaded by Dr. Mohammad Nasir Jallah, designed to provide Afghan medical students—particularly Afghan female medical students—with the opportunity to continue their education despite the challenges they face. As many Afghan students have been deprived of their fundamental right to study and save lives due to the current socio-political situation, KUMS in Exile aims to bridge this gap.
The project is a lifeline for Afghan female medical students, offering them a chance to resume their education in an environment that closely mirrors the academic structure they were accustomed to before. The faculty consists of lecturers from various Afghan medical universities who are now living outside the country, ensuring that the quality of education remains consistent with the Kabul University of Medical Sciences curriculum. The courses are delivered in Dari and Pashto, Afghanistan’s official languages, making the transition as seamless as possible.
Due to circumstances beyond control, the lessons will be conducted online. However, this format ensures that students can continue their studies from where they are now ( with us in KUMSs in Exile ), rather than where they were forced to leave off three years ago in case of universities reopening. Should Afghan universities eventually allow female students to return to in-person classes, KUMS in Exile will have played a crucial role in preventing the educational hiatus from hindering their progress.
This project stands as a testament to resilience and the enduring spirit of Afghan women in the face of adversity, providing them with the tools they need to continue their journey toward becoming skilled medical professionals.
